Time To Speak Up Is Loooooooong Overdue!!!

Based on the present scenario, in my honest opinion, the Catholic Church in Malaysia has been too silent and not spoken up enough on very tricky and problematic issues such as the death penalty, abortion, premarital sex, 'safe' sex, piracy, corruption, human rights, and especially obtaining permits to build real churches.

Although we Catholics do know what is our stand on such issues, it is also important for non-believers to know that we are indeed speaking up on these issues.

Our Lord Jesus Christ told us through the Gospels that we are called to be different from the world and to be the salt of the earth. It is our duty as disciples of Christ to speak up in the name of love and justice for the benefit of all mankind.

We have to be ready to speak up even at the cost of being persecuted as Jesus said that the world will hate us for being different and we must carry our crosses daily and follow Him. For being a Christian is NOT to have an easy life but to serve God and others.

In conclusion, it is of the utmost importance that we let everyone know our stand publicly so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified for eternity!

Michael Jackson - The King of Pop

Lately, Michael Jackson has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, mainly due to the media's aggressive attitude and refusal to give the man his own space. I do not wish to state the controversies he's gotten himself into because that would only be an insult to the legacy he has left behind not only in music and dance but also in breaking down racial and cultural barriers.

In my opinion, Michael Jackson is one of the few 'legends' in the music industry that include Stevie Wonder, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Bee Gees. Others can choose to continue harping on all the ridiculous crap that 'Wacko Jacko' got involved in. However, the fact remains that his music has made an impact on people from all corners of the earth. He will forever be a unique talent brought into the world by God. He, together with all the other 'legends' are one of a kind and truly irreplaceable. He was a musical genius, a prodigy that, unfortunately, had to leave the world at only the age of 50. However, I'm sure that God had his reasons for calling Michael Jackson back to Him.

His death has now put his three children in a tight situation as to who will obtain custody of them. I sincerely hope that the right people will be chosen to take care of them and that they won't be too traumatized by his absence from their lives.

In short, this is all I will say, "Michael Jackson, you will forever be the King of Pop! May your soul rest in peace. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on his soul."

To those who argue that the political crisis in Perak now is a taste of Pakatan's own medicine (referring to the Sept 16 takeover plan), they have failed to see the key differences between the two. If you remember what happened when Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim claimed to have the numbers to form the new federal government, he wrote to PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi requesting him to convene an emergency sitting of Parliament. This was rejected by the PM. The next constitutional option is to press for the dissolution of Parliament to make way for fresh new elections. That was also not entertained. Anwar Ibrahim exhausted the constitutional means that were available to him. If Pakatan were to act unconstitutionally and lure defections, then we will be having a new government today. But we didn't and we will not act unconstitutionally. So you can't say that Najib's coup and Pakatan's plan were one and the same

Some may also say, well what about the earlier defection of Bota assemblyman, Datuk Nasarudin Hashim? Why did Pakatan Rakyat accept him? Why not force his seat to be vacated for a by-election? Let's keep things in perspective here. His defection was that of an opposition lawmaker to a governing lawmaker. His defection did not alter the balance of power in the State Assembly. Pakatan Rakyat remained as government, and BN as opposition. Status quo. Logically and intelligently, anyone can safely assume that Pakatan Rakyat didn't need a defection from BN. Thus, he defected on his own accord and on his own will. There was no need for Pakatan Rakyat to force him to vacate his seat as he did not win the seat on a Pakatan ticket. The Pakatan government really has no standing in forcing him to vacate a seat which wasn't earned by Pakatan in the first place!

I must say that I had great respect for Sultan Azlan Shah. Until yesterday. I wonder how he could possibly consent to the formation of a new BN state government when constitutionally, a government is still in place. And to even approve to a new Menteri Besar when the existing one is still in office? How can any state have 2 heads of government at any one time? There can only be one Menteri Besar of Perak. This is a mockery. The Menteri Besar can only be removed by the State Assembly via a vote of no-confidence or via the dissolution of the assembly. And none of these two constitutional means has been requested by BN. How can anyone claim that Najib and Anwar are one and the same?

Next, the Sultan called for a "unity" government to be formed by BN and the Independents. Let's be clear about this. The Independents are in no way legally bound to represent BN. Well, at least not yet, not till they officially become members of a BN component party. All that the Sultan and Najib has from them is a verbal assurance that "we will be friendly to BN". And just by appearing in a press conference with Najib, it justifies the change of government? What if next week these Independents were to be seen in a press conference with Pakatan? A real "unity" government envisioned by the Sultan should have been an all-inclusive government of Pakatan, BN, and the Independents. Pakatan and BN each have 28 seats, and the Independents 3. Thus, no single party or coalition has a commanding majority. If there is to be a "unity" government, it calls for a new coalition of PR-BN-Ind which is impossible. Thus, what the Sultan has called for is simply a name without substance. What "unity" if it's going to consist of only single-minded representatives - all "friendly to BN"? That's not a "unity" government, it's a BN government.

This is a mockery of the intelligence of Malaysians. A beginning of what is to come with this PM-to-be.

First and foremost, I would like to wish all you Christians out there a blessed Christmas! All those parties and food are gonna be loads of fun!

However, let us not forget Jesus Christ, the MAIN & ONLY reason why we celebrate Christmas despite the distractions aplenty in the form of Santa Claus, snowmen, reindeers etc. We must always remember that if Jesus chose not to become one among us, we would be most certainly separated from God forever and there would be no Christmas and we would certainly be condemned to Hell.

Personally, I feel frustrated with the severe lack of portrayal of Jesus in most shopping complexes which mostly tend to show only the 'commercialised' side of Christmas; the Santa Claus, reindeer etc.

In conclusion, what is Christmas if Jesus is not the center of it all?! Therefore, as we celebrate Christmas, let us reflect on the significance of Jesus' birth and be forever grateful for it. Happy Christmas!

Abstinence: The ONLY way

You must be wondering what in the world I am talking about. Well, I'm talking about the 'taboo' topic, sex.

According to my Catholic faith, only ONE type of sex is acceptable. Sex after marriage. Pre-marital sex is a BIG no-no.

Of late, we have been reading and hearing about soaring no. of divorce cases, abortion cases and 'giving birth outside marriage' cases. Sadly, this is because of a combination of two devastating factors; pre-marital sex + 'safe' sex eg. condoms etc.

In reality, sex means so much more than just something you do to gain satisfaction. Sex is actually a beautiful concept created by God to further solidify and enhance the relationship between husband and wife. Sex gives the opportunity to both husband and wife to express their love for one another. Sex in reality is worlds apart to the 'sex' portrayed by the media as nothing more than a mere commodity.

Next, there is NO such thing as 'safe' sex. The risks of unwanted pregnancies still exist. Thus, the BEST and ONLY way is abstinence. Furthermore, sex is supposed to be COMPLETE giving and receiving among husband and wife. 'Safe' sex creates a 'barrier' between husband and wife psychologically as it implies lack of commitment and trust.

In conclusion, save sex until you are married to your spouse whom you will live the rest of your life with as the saying goes, 'save the best for last'.

Most people would have run away if they had a whiff that they may be detained under the ISA. However, Raja Petra Kamaruddin (right) and Teresa Kok (left) are not most people. They are willing to risk it all in the name of justice and love for all Malaysians and Malaysia. They could have left the country but they didn't. Personally, I admire their courage and I believe that they are two excellent examples of true Malaysian heroes.

By the way, I also am pleased with Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's resignation as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Law in protest over the use of the ISA. This shows that he is not a 'yes' man.

ISA must be abolished! 916, the moment of truth is coming very, very soon. May the dream of most Malaysians come true on this potentially history-making day!

51st Merdeka - Crossroads of Destiny

As we celebrate our country, Malaysia's 51st Independence Day in this year 2008, we are experiencing a situation unlike any other in the past 50 years.

Firstly, the idea of a takeover of the Federal Government by Pakatan Rakyat could be a huge probability as to make such a huge lie will seriously dent Anwar's credibility. However, in the event this idea becomes a reality, the present Government will most certainly call for fresh elections which is better than just asking Barisan reps to cross over as we, the rakyat can decide whether Pakatan Rakyat is ready to govern the country. In my opinion, they are ready.

Secondly, the clamping down of the Malaysia Today web portal. Recently, there have been many juicy statutory declarations and hot news on that website. This may suggest that the statutory declarations and reports are true as why would the authorities block the website if the stuff are false. This ain't rocket science, right?

Thirdly, the sodomy allegations against Anwar. At this moment in time, the evidences out there strongly suggest that this allegation is nothing more than a political conspiracy against Anwar. Even most of the ulamas and Malay people don't believe that Saiful's swearing on the Quran is genuine.

Besides that, the Altantuya murder case remains unsolved after almost 2 years. As the saying goes, justice delayed is justice denied. Those who are guilty should just admit their crime and spare Altantuya's family from even more mental anguish as they have gone through a lot and all they want is justice to prevail.

In conclusion, these are interesting times ahead. We pray that truth and justice shall prevail over deception and evil and hopefully Pakatan Rakyat can take over the Federal Government on 16 September 2008. Happy Independence Day!

To be frank, I am still speechless about what has happened in Malaysia. All I know is this: The WINDS OF CHANGE have swept the nation! This is a remarkable and astounding miracle not only for us ordinary citizens of Malaysia but also for Barisan Rakyat (DAP, PKR & PAS) who never in their wildest dreams expected to govern the states of Penang, Perak, Selangor, Kelantan and Kedah. This is truly astonishing. Furthermore, another miracle has occurred as this is the first time since 1969 that BN has failed to get the two-thirds majority in Parliament. This day is also significant as it shows that DAP, PKR and PAS can put aside their differences and work together for a brighter future for our beloved Malaysia. This day, 8 March 2008, will be remembered in the history of Malaysia FOREVER!

So, now is the time for Barisan Rakyat to form the state governments for the five states and govern them. It is also time for them to fulfill their respective manifestos in the five states. Thus, we as responsible and patriotic citizens of Malaysia must do our part and help Barisan Rakyat eradicate corruption, inefficiency and mismanagement of funds and to move the five states forward to a brighter future for us, our children and our grandchildren. We must also walk with them in not neglecting the other states that are not under their control. We must also help the Barisan Rakyat to perform their duties and serve the people in the five states well so that the five states can become a good example for the other states to follow to ensure that the winds of change will eventually sweep the entire nation.

By the way, Subang Jayans, Hannah Yeoh is our new state assemblywoman for Subang Jaya. We too should help her to bring Subang Jaya forward to a brighter future.

Know what the 'enemy' is saying

I disagree we boycott entirely all the mainstream newspapers. The Opposition should know what the 'enemy' is saying about them so that when the Opposition has any more ceramahs in the next two days, they can explain themselves to the public and deny any lies the 'enemy' is trying to spread about them or the 'enemy''s so-called plans and promises to make Malaysia a better country.

Here are some reasons why you should NOT vote for BN:

The Malaysian Judiciary is the laughing stock of the world as it has been implicated in another MAJOR scandal (Correct, Correct, Correct). This proves that the judiciary is tainted with corruption to the extent that we no longer have any confidence in the integrity of the judiciary.
The HINDRAF rally has exposed the ugly fact that many Malaysian Indians continue to be marginalised by the Government.
The fact that peaceful rallies have to be broken up by tear gas and water cannons suggests that the Government is afraid of the truth and trying to hide it.
Many megaprojects have become big scandals. (Port Klang Free Zone Buliding, Multimedia Super Corridor etc)
Crime rate has increased drastically in the last few years until to the extent that we no longer feel safe even in our own homes. No point building more police stations if most of the police force are not doing their jobs.
The standard of our education has reached an all time low. University Malaya, our 'premier' public university has slid drastically in the rankings from 89 in 2004 to 200+ in 2007. What is happening?! We demand for explanations.
The mainstream media is controlled (muzzled) by the Government. This is a HUGE stumbling block in ensuring free, fair and credible information for EVERYONE.
Our country has slid down the Transparency Index & Corruption Perception Index from 36 in 2003/2004 to 43 in 2007. This shows that Pak Lah has failed to fulfill his promise to eradicate corruption within the Government. In fact, it has become worse.
The credibility of the Election Commission has been put even further in doubt due to their recent decision to not use the indelible ink during the elections due to 'security' reasons. This would only encourage certain parties to gain an unfair advantage in the elections.
Our freedom of religion and our freedom of speech and to rally peacefully as stated in the Federal Constitution is becoming more and more superficial. How can we allow our rights to be slowly snatched away by the Government?!
The use of ISA on the 5 HINDRAF members is inhumane as they were only exercising their rights to rally peacefully and to speak the truth and they did not break any laws. How can we just stand at a distance and watch this draconian law being used for no good reason?
Parliament has become a joke as the Federal Constitution has been amended a few hundred times to the Government's advantage and Bills are being passed non stop as 91% of the MPs are from the BN. Furthermore, a few MPs have resorted to calling people 'bodoh', 'bohong' and 'pondan' when they have no answer to the Opposition MPs and some MPs have even made crude jokes about women (tiap-tiap bulan pun bocor). How can we continue to elect MPs such as these who will NOT speak up for us?!

Deny them the two-thirds majority.
Vote DAP. Vote Opposition. Don't vote for independents IF and ONLY IF they are NOT in a straight fight with BN as they will only split the Opposition votes.
Just change it! For our future and the future of our children and grandchildren and also for the future of our beloved Malaysia. Let us make our voices heard through the ballot box on 8 March 2008.

DAP will speak up for us. Hannah Yeoh will speak up for we Subang Jayans.

Don't believe the pro-BN mainstream media!

As much as I do not want to admit it, this is a fact: The mainstream media (newspapers, television & radio) is blatantly used by the BN to portray themselves as being so DAMN good for the past few years and to belittle the Opposition and portray the Opposition as liars.

To make matters worse, the Election Commission is now NOT using the indelible ink for the elections. Their reason: Certain groups are buying cheaper indelible ink from elsewhere to disrupt the election process and make quick cash. What a load of GARBAGE! They are just trying to enable BN to gain an unfair advantage. Even if the reason is true, then what are the police force for?! Minum kopi ah?! They are supposed to do their job. In this case, they should hunt down these groups and confiscate the indelible ink.

Fireworks: Is it WISE for them to be BANNED?!

I really don’t see the point of banning fireworks. They are only played for a maximum of 10-14 days in an ENTIRE year. They are SAFE provided that there is adequate SUPERVISION from parents. Sure there may be some valid points for noise and air pollution but come on, Malaysia! Fireworks are PART of the tradition of various festivals ESPECIALLY Chinese New Year. CNY without fireworks is so DULL! In my opinion, the ban should be lifted as this is possibly the STUPIDEST law ever created and implemented.

By the way, Gong Xi Fa Cai to all my Chinese friends and relatives and to all Chinese citizens in Malaysia. May the Year of the Rat be a good year for all of us.

BERSIH Rally: Importance of Free and Fair Elections

I cannot understand the fact that some people out there are more concerned with their own needs than the current state of the electoral process in Malaysia. Isn't it our right as citizens of Malaysia to demand for free and fair elections? Furthermore, the rally was a peaceful one until the police came and fired tear gas and water from water cannons that was laced with chemicals. This is an insult to our human rights.

Anyway, why did the police not approve BERSIH's application for a permit to conduct the rally?

It seems that the rally was deemed to be ILLEGAL. If that is the case, then why is it illegal? Is it stated in the Federal Constitution? I would like anyone to prove it.

In light of this huge incident, we must ask ourselves why is free and fair elections important? It is important to ensure that only the people who fully deserve to be elected are elected. If you have any other answers to this question, please don't hesitate to type them out on the blog.

Besides that, this rally was actually reported by al-Jazeera, an international news station which means that almost the whole world witnessed this event. This means that most of them would be seriously questioning the ability of a particular minister holding a particular post in Government to explain clearly the events that occurred during the rally.

In conclusion, this rally is a huge eye-opener for all Malaysians. So, we citizens of Malaysia must continue in our struggle for justice to restore our country's image on the world stage.

50 Years of Merdeka: What does it REALLY mean to us?

As a Malaysian, I have to admit that Malaysia has indeed gone through a lot of development. Examples are the Sepang F1 Circuit, KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers, highways etc. Besides that, Malaysia has good food too especially in Penang such as chee cheong fun, char koay teow etc. Honestly, I love my country and I know that most of you Malaysians out there also love this country.

However, our country is still plagued by many problems. There are quite a number of them but I would only like to highlight the major ones. They are

Corruption. According to the Corruption Perception Index, Malaysia is sadly ranked somewhere between 40th and 45th position in the index. This is in contrast to Singapore who are actually somewhere in the top ten places. Corruption is still a major problem in Malaysia. However, nothing much has been done to address this problem.
Freedom of religion. According to Article 11 of the Federal Constitution, every believer has the right to practice their religion freely as long as they do not preach to Muslims. However, in the last 40 years, this freedom has become more and more superficial. Examples of this happening include the termination of Christian Cathecism in schools nationwide which has been replaced with Moral Education, the removal of crucifixes from some school buildings, the banning of Malay translations of the Bible in Malaysia and Pope John Paul being barred from coming to Malaysia somewhere between 2000 - 2002.
Hiding of truth. Until recently, information about the tragedy of 13 May 1969 was kept a secret. As citizens of Malaysia, we have a right to know the country's history in full. Why was this information even hidden away in the first place?

Are all religions really the same?

It might be right. All religions tell their followers to be loving, kind, caring, fair, just etc. But, why are there many different religions if all of them have the same basic messages? So, there can be only ONE true religion. But what is it?

There are a few issues that can help us make a decision. They are:

Founders
God's relationship with us

Founders

Of all the religions' founders, only Jesus Christ is God. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is true God and true man (100% God & 100% man). All the other founders are only mere humans. However, you might be asking, "How do we know that Jesus is the Son of God?".

Is Jesus the Son of God?

Jesus is the Son of God because

He could perform miracles (turning water into wine, multiplying the number of bread and fish etc)
He could heal everyone with all kinds of diseases (leprosy, blindness, internal bleeding etc)
He could raise people from the dead eg. Lazarus, daughter of Jairus
He forgave us of our sins (Matthew 9:2 - 'And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.".')
He is the only human in the ENTIRE history of mankind to resurrect from the dead
He had power over the demons of Hell
Even the demons of Hell proclaimed that Jesus is the Son of God
He loved us so much that He was willing to die for our salvation in the most brutal and humiliating way: crucifixion (nailed on a wooden cross and left to die)

Jesus was different from other founders. He was the only founder whose coming was prophesied in the Old Testament (one of the two parts of the Bible) by prophet Isaiah and a few other prophets a few hundred years before His coming. How do we know that Jesus really resurrected from the dead? I'll ask you this question: Can you find His body? NO! How do we know that this is NOT a joke? It is proven in the Bible. One of the verses is John 3:16 - 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that we all may not perish, but have eternal life.' Another verse is Matthew 17:5 - 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.' For your information, Jesus Christ is the founder of Christianity.

Most of us would wonder why would Jesus give up His place in Heaven along with all His power and sovereignty and be born on Earth as the son of a poor carpenter and live with the poor and die a most shameful death. Well, I'll tell you why. Because He LOVED us so much that He was willing to do anything to save us from the fires of Hell even to the extent of being publicly humiliated, tortured and killed. He thought of our need for salvation before His needs. He loved us more than we could ever love Him back.

God's relationship with us

In other religions, man is on a search for holiness alone and God is just a mighty Being staring afar at a distance. Man just follows rules and regulations without much meaning and just because it is the right thing to do. However, in Christianity, God is always with us and guiding us in life's joys and sadness. God doesn't want to only be a god to us. He wants to be our friend. We Christians follow rules and regulations because God loves us and wants what's best for us. Jesus always emphasised love. This is proven in verses such as Luke 10:27 - 'And Jesus answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.".'

In conclusion, the TRUE religion is Christianity. Please give me your feedback on whether you agree or disagree with me and why.

Sidetracking a bit, for Malaysian college students who are learning Moral Studies, I would like to make a few corrections about Christianity in the Moral Studies textbook as I am a Christian. Firstly, the human soul is NOT made up of three parts. It is a whacked up and absurd theory! Second, the resurrection of Jesus Christ was already prophesied centuries before His birth and NOT a theory created by Jewish scholars centuries after His death. Third, Roman Catholicism is NOT a denomination. The Roman Catholic church is the ONLY church that can actually trace its roots all the way back to the Apostles of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. Denominations are churches that broke away from the Roman Catholic church. Last, the perfect model for us humans to follow is none other than JESUS CHRIST.

Piracy: Definition & Dangers

In this blog, I will be focusing on music, video and software piracy.

Piracy can be defined as the UNAUTHORISED and ILLEGAL copying/downloading and distribution of music, video and software.

This activity is dangerous due to the following reasons:

Piracy is STEALING. This is because the money is NOT going to the authorised distributors and this will cause them to suffer millions of dollars in losses. For Christians, stealing is a violation of the 7th commandment which is, "Thou shall not steal".
Piracy will only encourage SELFISHNESS. This is because most users of the pirated stuff will just want more and more since it's free or extremely cheap and they would not care about the authorised distributors. This activity will soon cause the crippling and later the death of the music, video and software businesses.

Here's something to reflect on. Why do we need to be so hard up on music and vidoes until we have to sin and break the law to get them? Are we turning into selfish and greedy beasts?

We should remember that there are more important things in life than music and videos. As people of faith, we should always put God at the centre of our lives. We should ask ourselves, "What would God do?" before we take an action. Sadly, this can sometimes be very difficult. But, if we keep working on it, God will surely help us achieve our good intentions.

What Does Christmas Mean To Us?

Generally speaking, Christmas Day is the day Jesus Christ was born. All of us know that. Sadly, nowadays most of us are too caught up with all the shopping for Christmas presents and parties until we have lost the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is NOT about Santa Claus but about the birthday boy, Jesus Christ. He is the ONLY reason why Christmas exists. I'm not saying that it is wrong to buy presents and attend Christmas parties but we must not brush Jesus aside. Why celebrate a birthday if we don't care about the birthday boy? Happy Christmas to all Christians.

In reference to my blogs with the titles September 17, 2006 & September 15, 2006 respectively, I want to apologise for what I've typed in those 2 blogs. I believe that instead of uniting all Christians, I have created more controversy and division among all Christians. I have used the wrong way in trying to unite all Christians. I admit that what I have done is wrong and extremely controversial that even my friend called me an 'extremist' (which is actually very true). I truly regret what I have done.

Anyway, we Christians must heed God's calling to set aside our differences and become united with 'one mind and one judgment' (1 Corinthians 1:10) for this is what God wants us to do. Once again, I am truly sorry and I regret what I have done. Please forgive me as Jesus once said, "Forgive us our sins for we also forgive all who do us wrong." (Luke 11:4). I hope that you will accept my apology and that we will love and serve God as one body and one Spirit in Christ someday.

My life as a teenage guitarist

I know that by now, most of you are assuming that my blog has something to do with a cartoon on Nickelodeon called, 'My Life as a Teenage Robot'. Believe me, this blog has got nothing to do with it. Besides, I don't like this cartoon. I only like Spongebob Squarepants. Now this is what I call an awesome cartoon.

Back to the main point of this blog, well, it all started somewhere in early November 2004, which was just after the PMR exam. My parents wanted me and my brother to take guitar lessons from a certain guy whose identity I will not reveal. All I will tell you is that he is a Christian. Anyway, in the beginning, my bro was really interested while I wasn't so interested. After much persuasion, in the end, I decided to give it a shot.

In the first two lessons, we learnt how to strum the basic chords such as C, D, E, G and A. Then, we were taught on how to play a piece called, 'Twelve Bar Blues'. Next, we moved on to play some Christmas carols such as O When The Saints Go Marching In, Silent Night & Jingle Bells. In the first 4 months, we used our uncle's old guitar to play since we haven't bought a guitar for ourselves yet. Sadly, our uncle's old guitar fell and broke. So, our guitar teacher decided to buy for us a new acoustic guitar since we didn't know which guitar we should buy. This is our acoustic guitar:

After that, our lessons became a bit more serious. We started learning songs such as Jambalaya by Hank Williams, Knocking on Heaven's Door, Cotton Fields by Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), Down by the Riverside, Amazing Grace, Marly Purt Drive by the Bee Gees, Words also by the Bee Gees, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, I Hear You Knocking by Fats Dominoes, and The Young Ones by Cliff Richard. Then, somewhere in early February, we asked our guitar teacher to buy for us an electric guitar after he recommended us to buy one since we were moving into a more advanced stage in our guitar playing. After that, we moved on to more advanced songs such as Twist & Shout by The Beatles, I Saw Her Standing There also by The Beatles, Hound Dog by Elvis Presley, Proud Mary by CCR, Down On The Corner also by CCR, Games People Play by Joe South, and Mustang Sally by Wilson Pickett.

I know by now that most of you might laugh at or criticise me for playing all these old and 'uncool' songs instead of all the other modern songs out there. Well, to be frank, I like all these old songs a lot better than modern songs ever since I started playing the guitar. Besides, most of the modern songs these days are all negative unlike the old songs that are much more positive. All I know is that I am proud to be an 'oldie'. I think it's kinda cool. Currently, I am learning how to play an instrumental. An instrumental is music without lyrics. It's a Latin number. It is called, 'Bes-a-mi mucho'. (I think that's how it's spelt.)

I have used my guitar skills in the outside world. I have played the guitar for a camp I attended in November 2005. I also played the guitar for my grandmother during her birthday in June 2005. I also played the guitar with my bro for a Christmas concert organised by my aunt in someone's house somewhere in mid December 2005. I also played the guitar with my brother, my bro's friend, and two other uncles for Christmas carolling in my housing area, USJ 3/1.

Besides that, I also played the guitar for a funeral service at Assumption Church in PJ with my bro and two other uncles. Pn. Chew was also present for the funeral since the deceased is her next door neighbour. The deceased is my mum's friend's husband. He was only in his mid 40s. It was really a sad occasion.

So, I'm really grateful that I made the decision to learn how to play the guitar. This is because ever since I started playing the guitar, I feel that I can glorify God's name, prefer old songs than the usually negative modern songs, and start developing a deeper interest in Christian praise & worship. I am really grateful to God for giving me the talent to play the guitar and for giving me the opportunity to unlock my potential to play the guitar. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal

Just read the title. As a diehard Arsenal fan, this is one of the greatest moments in Arsenal's 93 year history. What makes this a lot sweeter is the fact that this is the first time in 9 meetings that Arsenal have beaten Manchester United. Here are some pictures from this historical moment:

The only goalscorer in this match was none other than an Arsenal player. He is... EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR (the dark player with a creative hairdo). Anyway, I am not concerned about how he looks. All I know is he's got some skills. Even Cesc Fabregas put in an excellent performance in this match. In fact, he was the one that created the chance for Adebayor to score. No wonder the headlines in Monday's sports section was, 'Adebayor guns down MU'. Excellent job, Gunners! That was an excellent display of breathtaking football.

Sidetracking a bit, here's a riddle I want you to guess. I am made up of 7 different nationalities. The riddle is what are they? You would probably be able to guess 1 of them right by now so what about the other 6? Believe me, this is very mind-boggling. Come on...

According to what I've heard and read, most Protestants believe in sola scriptura. This idea was started by Martin Luther. Unfortunately, Scripture has proven that his ideas are WRONG! Here are a few verses from the Bible to prove that he is wrong. They are 1 Corinthians 11:23-29, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15, James 2:14-26 and 2 Peter 1:20-21. Hello guys and girls. I'm back. I know, it's been a week since I last blogged. Anyway, first and foremost, here is a recap of the second week of trials. Bio 2 was slightly hard, Bio 1 was a bit tricky, Add Maths 2 was a bit easier than what I expected, Add Maths 1 was somewhat a breeze, Kim 2 wasn't that hard, Kim 1 was not too easy, Fiz 2 was a bit easier than what I expected, and Fiz 1 was quite tricky. Overall, the second week wasn't too bad for me. Booyah!!! Only 4 days left to go.

On a more serious note (I might be dead serious in certain parts), most people say that Catholicism is just another denomination of Christianity. However, in my opinion, this is definitely not the case. I strongly believe that the Catholic Church is the ONE true church. This is because it started from the time of Peter. What I have just said has Scriptural evidence to back it up so please read Matthew 16:18 and John 21:15-17 to understand what I am trying to say. Anyway, if you want to find out more about the Catholic Church, I advise you to read this book.

What I've said is only just a small part of what this book contains. I might consider bringing this book on the 20th and 21st of September, which is on next Wednesday and Thursday respectively. By the way, I'm NOT trying to make the Catholic Church look superior compared to the other churches. I am only doing what I want and should be doing as a servant of Jesus Christ to bring non-Catholics on the right track. Well, you might be curious as in why I am so enthusiastic about this book. I am mainly because I love God and I want to serve Him. I might be wrong though so just read the book. The name of the book is, 'Surprised by Truth 2'. I hope that you will be touched in God's own way after you read this book.

Bonjour, monsieurs and madams! I'm back. To get the ball rolling, I will start with a recap of the first 5 days of the SPM trial exam. For me, BM 2 was quite hard, BM 1 wasn't as hard, Moral was the only paper that I really don't feel confident about, Eng 2 wasn't that hard, Sej 2 was a bit easier than expected, Eng 1 was somewhat a breeze, EST 1 was slightly tricky, and Sej 1 was slightly difficult. This means that it's 1 week gone, 2 weeks left 2 go. On a more serious note, whenever we do something or abstain from something, we should do it not because our parents force us or for the sake of duty. We should do it because we love God and we want to serve Him and glorify His name for God loved us first. This is in accordance with what Jesus told His disciples. Jesus said, "Love one another as I have loved you." He loved us so much that He was willing to humble Himself and be crucified. So, whenever we sin, it is like we are crucifying Him again and again. Let us ponder on this with a hymn. If you do not know this hymn, then just reflect on the lyrics.

Today was the eve of my bro's birthday. So, we went to 1 Utama to watch Little Man. It was reasonably funny. However, it was a bit 'dirty'. Anyway, I only have 2 chapters of Sejarah left to study before I complete my studying of Sejarah. Well, that's all 4 now. Now I'll try to read some BM literature.

Today was Encik Samingan's farewell. He is the SMK USJ 4 pengetua, which means that he is my school's pengetua. Honestly, I didn't go to school today. (I know, some of you who are reading this now will be shocked because I normally don't ponteng school) My trials are next Monday. So, my parents told me to stay at home and study. I guess it was for my own good. Anyway, it's not like our Pengetua was that great. At least I had more time to study my Sejarah. I finished Form 4 Sejarah today! Yee......hoohoooo!!! (Spongebob's voice).

August 31, 2006 - Merdeka Day (yeah, right)

Every year, on the 31st of August, we Malaysians celebrate Merdeka. We celebrate in various ways, such as sticking the flag on top of our cars, watching the Merdeka parade on TV, and many more. However, does this mean that we have actually gained independence? In my opinion, NO is the answer. I don't simply say this just for the fun of it. I am not trying to be political, but the facts are there as stated below.

First, why are some Muslims so against the legal conversion of Lina Joy from Islam to Christianity? We as Malaysians should respect her decision as Article 11 of the Federal Constitution guarantees Malaysian citizens the right to adopt the religion of their choice. There is no use of being either a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Hindu or a Sikh if you are not 100 percent committed to your religion. Second, there are still some people out there who are involved in corruption and 'money politics'. How can we still continue to celebrate Merdeka mindlessly when issues such as this are still taking place in our country. As a citizen of Malaysia, I fully support the Prime Minister's decision to establish the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to solve the problems affecting our country today.

Today was a weird day in school. Only SEVEN of us came to school. We were myself, Imran, Stanley, Mahein, Shahira, Syafiqah and Amelia. No need to feel guilty, anyway. We managed to arrange all the tables and chairs and clean up the entire classroom. (We also got a little help from Pradheep. Thanks Pradheep!). We were part of a 'historical' event that might never be repeated by the Form 5s in the coming years. So, I guess it was pretty cool! We still learned some Chemistry, though so at least we didn't REALLY waste our time in school.

I have been an Arsenal FC fan since I was 10 years old. Arsenal r d best!!! Besides that, my favourite cartoon show is Spongebob Squarepants. I also love playing the guitar. I currently own an electric guitar. It rocks!!! I am currently studying in SMK USJ 4. I am in Form 5 Seroja. There are no other foods better than the food in Penang. Penang food rocks!
